Butterflies & Orchids - Thousands of butterflies from around the world swarm the San Diego Wild Animal Park's Hidden Jungle exhibit. The Crevasse, adjacent to Hidden Jungle will feature stick insects, leaf bugs and leaf cutters ants. More than 300 orchids are displayed during this two week spring fling and the horticulture staff give daily presentations on orchid care and cultivation, during park hours. 619-234-6541.

Annual Revival of the Pegleg Smith Liar's Contest - The oldest ongoing story telling contest in the United States. The first lie was told in 1916!! Contestants must relate tall tales about Pegleg Smith, lost gold, or the desert and are limited to about 5 minutes in length. Held in the evening, open to the public and free.
