SEDONA HISTORY TOURS

OFF ROAD ATV TOURS - TUCSON, FLORENCE, SEDONA

A unique off road adventure that provides individuals the chance to operate an ATV under professional, guided supervision. You'll explore old pony express routes high in the cool mountains of Southern Arizona, the beauty of the Sonoran Desert outside Florence, or the scenic red rock formations of Coconino National Forest in Sedona. The package includes pick up at a pre-arranged meeting site, transportation to and from the off-road location, equipment, water, snacks and the ATVs. Three hour tour. Safe for all ages and skill levels. Children under 14 must ride with an adult.

Cost: $115 single or double.  **Note during the summer months ATV tours are only available in Sedona.  Other areas resume service in October.

Your all-inclusive "pampered" day starts from Sedona led by trained, informative and professional tour guides. Start with a trip through beautiful Oak Creek Canyon on your way to the Grand Canyon. You'll make a stop at the world famous IMAX theatre with feature film. Then go on to enjoy a delightful buffet lunch in a garden room. Your expert guide will then take you to several overlooks from the Historic District to the East rim, with free time to enjoy the majesty of the Canyon and experience it in your own way.

OPEN ROAD TOURS - PHOENIX/SCOTTSDALE

Tours depart daily from Phoenix. Begin with a fully narrated tour of the Sonoran Desert to the red rock country of Sedona for a photo stop. Continue through the pine forests of Flagstaff and arrive at the Grand Canyon in time for lunch. You will have 3 - 4 hours at the canyon for dining, gift shops and views from additional stops along the rim. On to an authentic Indian trading post on the Navajo Reservation with the Painted Desert as your backdrop and a short stop for shopping and experiencing the culture of the Native Americans. Approximately 13.5 hours.

Departs from Phoenix on Fridays. Travel south to Tucson with a rest break in Picacho Peak. Then on to Saguaro National Monument for a spectacular photo opportunity. Next visit Arizona Desert Sonoran Museum where you'll encounter the plants, animals and reptiles of the Sonoran Desert in their natural habitat. Early afternoon, your guide will escort you to beautiful San Xavier Mission dating back to the 1700's. Afterward enjoy a brief driving tour through Tucson with its rich Hispanic history.

Sonoran Safari - A "wild" day of adventure at Out of Africa wildlife preserve where animals from around the world have natural, spacious habitats and share relationships with their caregivers. The highlight is a Serengeti Safari on board special Unimog vehicles with expert guides. Experience personal encounters with giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and more. You'll also have time to view and photograph lions, tigers, panthers and other animals in their habitats.

Your Sonoran Safari also includes a visit to Tuzigoot National Monument to explore the land and ancient dwellings of Native Americans who called this area home. Departs on Sundays.

Verde Canyon Train & Historic Jerome - Start your day with a fully-narrated tour of the Sonoran Desert heading northwest to the town of Clarkdale. Along the way, you'll visit the historic copper mining town of Jerome with its quaint shops and rich history. Next, you'll arrive at the Verde Canyon Train Depot where you can enjoy lunch at the Copper Spike Cafe (not included) plus visit exhibits on the train's history. Your four-hour round-trip train ride will bring you through panoramic Verde River Canyon, which is only accessible only by train. The colorful desert cliffs and abundant wildlife make this an unforgettable trip. All guests have access to open-air viewing cars for fantastic views. While on board the train, don't be surprised if you see bald eagle, coyote, antelope and other wildlife that make their home in this rugged terrain! The train trip also features strolling musicians and informative narration. Includes transportation, professional guide service and round-trip coach ticket on the Verde Train.  Meals and gratuities are not included.

Down Mexico Way Tour - Departs Phoenix on Tuesdays. Travel south past Tucson to the famous San Xavier del Bac Mission constructed in the 1700's. View the magnificent art and architecture. The continue on to Nogales, Mexico and south of the border. This quaint border town boasts bargains galore, including leather goods, pottery, jewelry, rugs and much more.  Take time for lunch at of the recommended restaurants then more shopping before the return trip to Phoenix.

Apache Trail & Canyon Lake Steamboat - Departs from Phoenix/Scottsdale on Thursdays & Saturdays.  Travel the scenic Apache Trail at the base of the legendary Superstition Mountains. Visit Goldfield Ghost Town, then continue on to Canyon Lake for a relaxing steamboat cruise with desert scenery and lots of photo opportunities. Travel first to Meteor Crater where a giant meteor impacted the earth and astronauts trained for space missions. Then travel on to a combined tour of the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. This is your chance to photograph the beautiful images of the Navajo Reservation including the magnificent Antelope slot canyon. MONUMENT VALLEY

Travel off the beaten path on these scenic jeep tours operated and guided by Navajos born and raised in Monument Valley. Your Navajo guide will share interesting sites, photographic opportunities and the best scenic views in the Tribal Park as you learn about the history and the culture of "The People". Experience the awe and wonder of this magical land with towering rock formations, and expansive buttes and mesas. Tours depart daily.

Full Day Tours travel along the Navajo Loop taking in 11 of the most photographed rock formations in western history just in the first 11 miles. Scenic stops allow you to take in the magnificent sandstone structures and painted vermillion red sandstone mesas, buttes and spires sculpted through the ages of time. Then continue on to the restricted backcountry and sacred areas of the Navajo people. Travel into Mystery Valley, home of the ancient Anasazi and see authentic rock art, petroglyphs, and ruins of the cliff buttes, following prehistoric trails across the desert floor. Overnight Hogan Cultural Experience – After you have enjoyed your day of touring across the vast landscape of Monument Valley, you are invited to spend the evening in an authentic Navajo Hogan. This cultural sharing experience is truly unique and creates memories to last a lifetime. Your guides will share with you stories of the Navajo people late into the night over a burning campfire.
