The Island is home to the rainiest spot on earth, Mt. Wai ale ale, with an average yearly rainfall of over 444 inches. Yet a scant dozen or so miles away, the Kekaha and Waimea areas are almost desert-like, with some 10 inches of rain in the average year. Kauai is home to the only navigable rivers in Hawaii, and the highest altitude swamp, the Alakai Swamp. Kauai is the sole Hawaiian Island to still have an endemic bird population.
Where the trails end, the hidden beauty of Kauai is revealed to you. During your tour of Kauai, you'll visit the Napali Coast area, home of incredible sea cliffs which rise thousands of feet from the sea floor. Numerous waterfalls, including Manaowaipuna Falls made famous by the movie Jurassic Park, flow year round and are
highlights of the tour. During their almost daily "Mauka" or mountain showers, literally thousands of waterfalls flow down from every peak, only to dry up within hours when the rains clear. Flying inside the crater of Mt. Wai ale ale during a light rain is indescribable. If you are fortunate enough to be on an Air Kauai tour during these light rains, you will be treated to an experience that some describe as mystical, spiritual, or as
they say "Mana". Adult $212 per person.
