Explore Arizona's Wilderness Areas and View Magnificent Wildflowers

Magnificent color blankets the hillsides of many Arizona wilderness areas and state parks. From the Mexican goldpoppies to lupine to any number of species, the color is outstanding! With the onset of El Nino and the intermittent winter rains, this year's crop of desert wildflowers are expected to bloom in record numbers. Many horticulturists say this one of four record years in history when the blooms are expected to be so vibrant. The wildflower season usually runs from mid-March to mid-April. This year experts say good viewing may even run through the end of April to early May.
