Northern Arizona
Come play in a winter wonderland. Enjoy the pristine beauty of
Northern Arizona in winter. Now is the time to visit this
playground when crowds are minimal, and enjoy the natural
wonders, museums, and snow covered wilderness areas.
Take a scenic ride to the Grand
Canyon on the Grand Canyon
Railway. Relax in one of the five different coach cars as the
train meanders across 65 miles of pine forests, high desert
plains and small canyons. Strolling musicians and western
characters recreate train travel as it was at the
turn-of-the-century. Trains depart daily, and allow for a three
and one-half hour visit at the Grand Canyon before returning to
the depot in Williams. Spend the night at one of our warm and
comfortable B&Bs in either Williams or Flagstaff.
For discriminating skiers, plan a day at Snowbowl and play on the slopes. Enjoy both Alpine and Nordic skiing. Then return to Flagstaff for dinner and a cozy Bed & Breakfast stay that will warm you through and through.
While in Flagstaff you could also plan to visit the Lowell Observatory, Riordan Mansion, or frequent any of the antique stores and fine merchants in the area. Take a sleighride through Coconino National Forest and visit the Museum of Northern Arizona.
Plan now for Winterfest'99 taking place in February. Winterfest features 55 events including sled dog races, llama games, x-country and downhill skiing, sleigh & snowmobile rides, snow sculpture, ice skating, a parade, concerts, theater, art shows, historic tours, winter star gazing and more. Make your B&B reservations in advance to insure best choice of rooms. For a calendar of events for Winterfest, call 800-842-7293.
